2014 was a particularly hot year in Australia and bush fires are not uncommon in this usually hot and dry land downunder. A fire, deliberately lit started on the side of a freeway outside of Melbourne and because of drought conditions quickly spread to trees and bushland. This image shows just how high the flames were. The firefighter and I are on a bridge at least 10 metres above the road. The fire was at ground level. Climate change means more unpredictable weather conditions resulting in more fires and floods.
