Le Corps; The body as a vessel, a study of gender. It is the body that contains the dynamic tension between our mortality, identity and sexuality. It defines our humanity in digestible terms. We are dependent on it and at the same time, trapped by it. Trapped within the constraints of the flesh and forced to express our ennui, frustrations and metaphysical musings through the way we pummel that which is given to become that which we desire. This series of photographs examines the meaning of gender identity and the contradiction between that of the physical and that of the psychological through a defined group of transgender and cross-dressers in New York City.
