I would say that I approach photography in more of a painterly way in that I strive for a specific kind of formal harmony. My most recent project, "Clinical Configurations", focuses on the stylized urban environment. There are hotel lobbies, shopping mall cafeterias, reception rooms, business centers, and mail rooms, to name a few. Their commonality is in their sterile aesthetic. These rooms were conceived with a neutral design scheme that was intended not to draw attention, yet together they appear more clinical than welcoming, and the absence of people adds to the images' feeling of emptiness.
