I spent a couple of decades in a professional area where I could find no self-satisfaction, but had to do it for a living. I made countless mistakes, misbehaved, and victimized others in the course of my aimless life. After a long-term soul-searching, I ended up finding photography as the area where I can find my calling and myself. My project, The Confessions of Self, is about those wrongdoings that I have wrought in the past. For this project, I invited more than eighty people to my studio from both the streets and professional model networks. The background of each image is left empty since it is the canvas of my yet-unfinished life.
If you asked me what was the most critical cause of the major misfortunes in my life, I would answer: living without a sense of my own identity or calling. My project, The Confessions of Self, is totally about those wrongdoings that I have wrought in the past. The process of this project was painful, yet meaningful to me. For this project, I invited more than eighty people to my studio from both the streets and professional model networks. I have found this to be an ideal method to show how their own similar experiences as victims or wrongdoers reflect my sins. The nudes in this body of work mostly represent those who were victimized by me, and the background of each image is left empty since it is the canvas of my yet-unfinished life.
