Last winter I was invited to spend 3 months among the Musahar in Bihar, India. I taught English and thus participated in the social project called Nari Gunjan (Women's Voice) The project was initiated by Ms Sudha Varghese in 2000 with the aim to give basic education to children, girls in particular, in Musahar villages with the hope to break the long history of caste discrimination in India and prepare the children for better future. Apart from teaching I often went to see the Musahar villages and could see for myself the dire living conditions of the villagers. My camera was every day with me. All the photograpphs were taken in the district of Patna, Bihar.
