The landscape that tourists may think of as idyllic paradise in clean, safe resorts can just as easily turn into a deadly tempest in a mud and stick home clinging precariously to a steep hillside. This is no more poignant than right now after the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti.

Story

Dreams & Tempests
Struggling in the tropics, the poor still dream of living in the paradise that surrounds them. The landscape that tourists may think of as idyllic paradise in clean, safe resorts can just as easily turn into a deadly tempest in poorly constructed homes clinging precariously to a steep hillside.

This is no more poignant than right now after the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti. I began this project before the earthquake and that massive disaster transformed this photo essay into an examination of Haitians’ endurance, faith and resilience as they bury their dead and move on with their lives, even now still dreaming of living in the paradise that still exists in their minds
