A lone chair remains in a destroyed building near the repaired levee wall in the Lower Ninth Ward on October 31, 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans on August 29, 2005. Over 700 people were killed in New Orleans alone when the city's levees were breached. Four years later, the city is still recovering from the devastation, and one of the worst affected areas, the Lower Ninth Ward, remains largely filled with deserted buildings and empty lots where homes once stood, many of which are for sale.
