South Africa has the largest HIV positive population in the world. 18% 15-49 year olds are HIV positive. It is estimated to be as high as 30% in the country's townships. 5.7 million South Africans are living with HIV including 280,000 children under 15 years old, the number will exceed 6 million by 2015, by which time around 5.4 million South Africans will have died of AIDS.
