St. Helena, a British Territory lying 5,000 miles from Blighty, deep in the South Atlantic Ocean. The images presented are from a series taken on a small island most famous for the incarceration of Napoleon. Today, islanders are awaiting a decision from the UK government to decide whether to fund the construction of a much-anticipated airport. Without air access, the island is left reliant upon Government funding to sustain its economy. Currently served by a single Royal Mail Ship, an airport would provide the potential for self-sustainability, encouraging the diminishing population to return.
