This image I made after seeing a documentary about a Muslim girl, age 10/11, bursting with life, tough, planning to stay independent her whole life. The second part of the documentary finds her 12 years later. Mother of small children, submissive, locked up in a house without a possibility to go out on her own, with a husband who has been chosen for her and who is never at home. Still, she claims that this is what she wants and that her faith asks this of her. In this image I tried to depict the moment of change, the moment of her surrender.
