My first visit to Ground Zero, I was first awestruck by the enormity of the site. I stood and stared for what seemed like an hour before I stepped back to observe others. Then I raised my camera to capture the moment of quiet observance.

Story

As I approached Ground Zero from the street, a construction worker approached me. At first I thought he was going to tell me to put my camera away, but he asked if I was getting any good shots. He recommended that I go to the Winter Garden observation area for the best view. Nice guy. Walking into the World Financial Center I didn’t know how I was going to react. This was my first visit to the site many years after the event. I found the large courtyard and the window facing the construction. I was first awestruck by the enormity of the site. I cried as I thought about what had happened at this very place. I stood and stared for what seemed like an hour before I stepped back to observe others. Then I raised my camera to capture a moment of quiet observance.
