When my teenage daughter, Katie, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, she showed an indomitable spirit that revealed strength, beauty and a surprisingly practical wisdom for one so young. I wanted to somehow capture what I saw, so the day before her last radiation treatment, we made these photographs to celebrate her victory over cancer. Her mother, Allison’s hand on Katie’s head symbolizes the special and caring relationship the two experienced in overcoming this challenge. Each bead in the bracelet she made represents an event, such as a blood transfusion or chemo treatment that she has been through– even one for anaphylactic shock!
