Whilst recently taking portraits of people pheasant-shooting I shot multiple frames in quick succession in order to capture the subjects blinking. Portrayed in this way with their eyes closed, the subjects seem to be withdrawn into a state of numb reflection. The cold bleakness of the snow-covered fields seem to be reflected in the subject's introspective expressions.
