Influenced by both the psychological and theoretical effects of environment on people, my work is a lyrical exploration into the challenges of safety and comfort by means of performance. Using the body as means of language, I connect myself physically within the landscape I inhabit. Playing on ideas of memory, trauma, family and place, I am pining myself against an uncertain threshold of endurance. Marked by a loss of comfort or a torn veneer, these acts play on wavering lines of connection and control. The portraits I created are a rendering of the happiness and sorrow we constantly fluctuate between depending on our environment.
