Entry Title: "Documentary of Dream"
Name: Joo Song , United States
Category and Expertise: Still Life|Flowers, Non-Professional

Entry Description: set up the camera in one spot and take a picture of a flower every couple of hours and put these pictures all together. These pictures, which will be taken at different points in time. The duration of time or imagery could be similar or create an impression of a dream state. I would like to conceptualize a dreaming flower and will be using many different moments in time of that particular flower to create one piece of photography. It will show how real world objects and their surroundings are changing while also creating a world of their own.

About the Artist:

A dream is an imaginary series of events or images that you experience in your mind while you are asleep. Your body is basically still while you are in a deep sleep, but time passes while you sleep and your surroundings change. The environment of the dreamer changes as well as the dreamer, himself or herself is also changing in some way either by aging or through some sudden movement of the body. The dreamer will have no idea or can have no expectations of what may occur in the dream or in their surroundings. With these ideas in mind, I compare and contrast dream to a tree or a flower. A tree may have grown in the same spot for over 50 years, however, around the tree, circumstances are always changing. Snow, rain, wind affect the area around the tree as well as the tree itself. All plants such as trees or flowers have a basic form or pattern of growth according to their type. However, they aren’t all same after they have matured. One will never know before the plant has fully matured the final form or formation of that tree or flower. My exhibition concept will be known as “A Documentary of Dream.” I will set up the camera in one spot and take a picture of a flower every couple of hours and put these pictures all together.
