This image is part of an ongoing series of ambrotypes I'm currently working on, through which I explore themes of human life, transience, and fragility. The term ‘ambrotype’ comes from the Greek word meaning immortal. By photographic definition, however, an ambrotype is made on nothing more than a thin piece of glass. Therefore, the image itself embodies the tension between immortality and fragility.
