Nowhere are the effects of the dysfunctional relationship humans have with the Earth more evident than in Madagascar. Historically, the Malagasy’s food, shelter, and, more often than not, their only source of income, was achieved symbiotically with their environment. Now their forests have been depleted by 90%, and the once abundant nearby ocean is being severely overfished by farmers-turned-fishermen who lost their arable land. In a cross-examination of the intricate ties they have with the Earth, this series showcases the environmental challenges of the dignified and vibrant people of southeast Madagascar.
