In Thrace, secular traditions and religious practices have genuinely integrated the everyday life, becoming part of the culture. The mosaic of people who live there, or travel by, is unnerving and captivating. Some mystery remains, carefully preserved by some guardians whose profound yet amused eyes will not reveal anything to the visitor. The soul of Thrace remains deeply rural and may bring some of us back to their childhood, with a twinge of regret. Time seems to stand still, overwhelmed by the intense feelings and the overwhelming generosity of people who are ready to share the little they own.
