Chongqing, one of the most important cities along the Yangtze River in southwestern mainland China, is growing faster than mapmakers or even government officials can track. Its celebrity Party boss, Bo Xi Lai, is already making international headlines for his storied crackdown on Chinese mobsters and wrenching political ambitions. One street divided from the flourishing city center, the “Shi Ba Ti” neighborhood is consists of temporary street shelters filled with people seemingly left behind by the prosperity of Chongqing. Since 2007, the government of Chongqing has invested $3,000 million for the development of the city and has begun to resettle the residents in the slum. In 2010, the people were being resettled in this neighborhood, here is the portrait series i made in the past summer, to them, after this August their old place will vanish into a forest of high-rise buildings.
