Massive category 5 Cyclone Yasi vented itʼs awesome power - 300kph winds and a storm surge metres high - on the far north of Queensland in Australia causing massive damage. Rebecca Latemore was just one of many thousands whose life changed dramatically that morning. Evacuated from her home high on at Mission Beach for the duration of the tempest she returned to the ruins just as I landed in a helicopter in a paddock next door. From the air it looked as if a giant had stamped on her house and flattened it - only the toilet remained standing. Rebecca initially made light of the destruction of all she held dear - cracking jokes as she inspected the remains. However, as I turned to leave to reboard the chopper I noticed that Rebecca had gone quiet. She stood still in the ruins as the shock and despair welled out of her - empty and forlorn with a tear falling down her cheek. I made just a few frames before Rebecca bravely attempted to regain her composure - but her true feelings were etched in those few frames.
