Artist Statement These images are my exploration of a new body of photographic work. I have always had a fascination love for abstract expressionist paintings. It is the uniqueness of each artist's choices of colors, multi layer and the reworking of the canvas, and most importantly, the emotional and psychological impact that their works had upon the audiences, that makes me extremely drawn to their works. With these inspirations, I am interested in creating vibrant, expressive, and emotionally charged photographic images that can be viewed as paintings. Using a light-box as my canvas, I layer overlapping multimedia materials that build upon each other to portray a painterly appearance. Additionally, to keep this body of work as true to the painterly experience as possible, I chose to place the emphasis on in-camera editing (with the manipulating of shutter speech, aperture, camera movement, and blurring of the focus) with very minimal to non existence of Photoshop usage. -Tiensirin Tienngern
