A series of environmental portraits titled "Los Ojos" ("The Eyes") : subjects photographed in the neighborhoods they grew up in where they participated in 'the gang life'. Each person directed me to the exact spot where we created these images.
This series of portraits represents the subjects as they live their lives today. Having recovered from drug addiction, time spent in prison and participating in gangs (some from the age of 7 or 8). All these people have turned their lives around, are clean and sober and work with at risk youth, counseling them to make different decisions than the ones they made.
