I think of trees as individuals. I take note of their surroundings, read into their gestures, and imagine myself in their place. Each tree owns an individual situation, modified by chance and circumstance. Certain trees seem to resonate with me, and speak to the human condition. Like me, their fate lay in the hands of an invisible and unknowable future. These photographs provoke me to meditate on the significant events of my past and present, on the trajectory of my future, and on others of close acquaintance to me.
