Made for a Noorderlicht assignment, these images offer a glimpse at the production, modernity, technological advance, enormous scale, and 24/7 character of the most dominant sugar/ethanol producer in the world – Brazil. Illustrating the chain of production from the large scale, high tech production areas in the Sao Paolo region to where sugar is sold on the international market or processed into ethanol, the photographs are part of an investigation into the forces of globalization.
