“The Face of Life” is about masks that were used as medical aids. They have been custom modeled to individual cancer patient’s heads, treated for brain cancer. The masks seem to communicate a variety of human expressions, despite the fact that they were made of a plastic material. These expressions hint to fear, anger, sadness, yet also hope. The emotion of hope in this particular case lies in the fact that the viewer is not aware whether the patient lived or died after the treatment.
