Kuwait has long been a highly sought after territory in the middle east due to its access to the sea and valuable oil reserves. Not only has this struggle left significant damage but a lack of interest in locals to rebuild adequately with a constantly lingering fear of when they will lose their country yet again. Instead, vestiges of war become squatting grounds for the impoverished and a means for self expression for those who lack a free voice.
