This series was shot in Ukraine during a residency conceptually directed by Boris Mikhailov. The Duratran lightbox images hang as a 9 metre triptych installed into a dis-used Soviet Factory in Donetsk, Ukraine.
This triptych explores the complex relationship to the mother figure in adulthood; the ever-present maternal influence; present and absent.
As an adopted child in the 1960's I have no knowledge or understanding of my social or genetic heritage; my biological mother is literally absent but ever-present.
