NGOs in Greece say that one to two million illegal immigrants are living in Greece, but officials don’t really know the exact number. The sudden increase of immigrants along with the economic crisis has brought problems. Muslims in Athens don’t have a mosque to pray in and the state isn’t giving them permission to build one. Drug-addicts are flooding the city’s center, while rehabilitation programs are being cut because of the economic crisis. The last two years, HIV among drug addicts has risen by 1050%, a result of complete lack of policy, while in the past NGOs gave out syringes.
