In March 2012 the so-called potato movement became popular in Greece. Consumers would contact directly with farmers and by cutting out the middlemen, agricultural products would become available at cost price. It first initiated when the consumers’ association of Pieria in northern Greece placed a collective order to the potato producers of Kato Nevrokopi. Soon associations and municipalities all over Greece followed their example setting up online ordering forms and arranging for delivery dates.
