A portrait of Liza Hennessey-Botkin with her rescue dog Brindy. This image was captured in September of 2011. Liza had a difficult year of surgeries and multiple losses of loved ones. When she adopted Brindy from a local rescue, I saw a dramatic positive change in Liza, as well as the dog. In this portrait, I wanted to capture a true testament to the power of love between a person and an animal. The higher position of the dog, the lean of her head on Liza's, and the look in Brindy's eyes acknowledge her love and caring for Liza in gratitude. Liza’s check tucked in resting against Brindy's chest peacefully with eyes closed, proves her solace and care in return.
