Laghat is 9 y.o. blind thoroughbred. From the left eye it’s completely blind, the other has a 10% viewing capacity… just enough to win the races!. Federico De Paola is the owner. He’s a jockey, born and living in Pisa, near the San Rossore racecourse (one of the most famous in Italy). When Laghat was a foal had a bad mycosis wich quite completely corrupted his viewing capacity; but, as for the humans, Laghat developed a “sixth sense”, the one wich is important to beat the other horses during a race, and win (as he made during this reportage – 10th of may 2012, in Pisa). Laghat and Federico are really good friends, the horse is always seeking his hand, his face, his smell. The jockey says that is Laghat’s merit, but probabily they are level on points. Before and after the race Laghat lives in a special box, far from the other horses, but toghether with a friend mare. Here he can eat, wollow in the strow, and waiting for the stablemen taking care of a great champion.
