Juvenile In Justice documents the placement and treatment of American juveniles housed by law in facilities that treat, confine, punish, assist and, occasionally, harm them. The project includes interviews with and photographs of more than 1,000 juveniles at over 200 facilities in 31 states in the U.S. The ultimate goal is to influence lawmakers and the public to change policies to better support the treatment of troubled juveniles. The work was a feature photo essay on Wired.com in April (http://www.wired.com/rawfile/2012/04/photog-hopes-to-effect-policy-with-survey-of-juvenile-lock-ups/), and has appeared on NPR, CBS, PBS Newshour, in Harper’s Magazine and multiple reports produced by non-profit advocate groups.
