The campaign road show is in town and the big tent is up. The reality at each campaign stop seems to be fabricated for television, a sterile and well-lit bit of sophistry. This project began as a document of the tea party movement and developed as I spent time covering the Republican presidential campaign. Ever in search of unscripted moments and honest faces, I sought the edges of staged events. The pictures reveal quiet moments within the backdrop of campaign bustle, and seek to offer insight on a production that reveals little on its surface.
