Genoa, Italy, 1960s. In an era when the urgent needs imposed by the economic boom and mass motorization prevail effortlessly over public opinion - which is not yet organized according to the NIMBY paradigm - a feat of engineering is constructed: the motorway viaduct over the River Polcevera, the Morandi bridge, named after its designer. One thousand meters of concrete and asphalt pass unhesitatingly over not only the river but also blocks of flats, factories, railways and roads.
