When a hollow wave rolls forward, the proceeding impact can be huge. Air trapped within the crushing wave rolls with the forward motion and for a split second, a line of rings can be seen. In order to capture this image I had to dive directly under the shallow explosion and do my best to both hold the camera and get the shot without injuring myself. Timing this with a golden sunrise and crystal clear ocean water can result in a combination of amazing shapes and colours, but only for an instant.
