Kokoshnik originally started as a collaboration with print designer Lisa Stannard, and became an ongoing personal project inspired by the current and past political situation in Russia, referencing the role of the female as icon / 'mother russia' and political prisoner using the Kokoshnik as a traditional symbol. The images are produced 'in camera' and costumes made up to 1 year ahead.
