An examination of memories and icons that relate to my childhood in Israel, and adulthood as a soldier. Miniatures are metaphors, a scaled world where there is the opportunity to view a phenomena through a vantage point. the images in the series are part of a thesis project in the making which also incorporates real landscapes blended with immediate models that I make. The models are installed mostly within the space I live as a persistent layer of memory which is inescapable and fascinating at the same time.

Story

An examination of memories and icons that relate to my childhood in Israel, and adulthood as a soldier in the Israeli army. These miniatures are metaphors, a scaled world where there is the opportunity to observe a phenomena through a vantage point. The images in the series are part of a thesis project in the making, which also incorporates real landscapes blended with immediate (none perfect) models that I make. The models are installed mostly within the space I live in as a persistent and permanent layer of memory, which is inescapable and fascinating at the same time.

The images in the series are almost secretly layered. Each layer has the potential to reveal a deeper complex of photography and the current reality, which the medium refers to or is mirroring. The complexity is not a discovery, but rather an evolving nature of photography.

The surface layers are colors, contrasts, composition and materials. their function is to be compelling. They lure a viewer to pay attention. The next layer echoes history, memory, iconography of war; the kind of information most people gather through personal experiences and mediated ones like news broadcasts, documentaries and fiction movies.

The deeper layers are the ones that fascinates me and inspire me to create more. These layers are being formed unintentionally and still they are inevitable. A closer look at the images can reveal a new nature of the reality that the images refer to. The models are of icons that became none specific, the identification of an object is made by the notion of the object. The scale models are either inaccurate or rather refer to an average situation ( a situation that sums a personal experience which is indistinguishably blended with common repeating scenarios from news channels or movies) .

For believing in images perhaps we now observe reality as a continuum with its on image.
It seems that reality reflects images as well as the other way around. The understanding of what we see is much dependent today on partial limited replicas of reality in images; symbolic fragments that transmuted into matter.

It is possible that it is only my view of the world. I am not sure what I hope for in regards to this option.
