Driving up Castlecreek on this early January morning the entire valley was fogged in. The original thought was to capture a misty, gloomy, ghost town image. I snowshoed out past the town just a bit to compress the perspective with a telephoto lens. The mountains were not visible. What happened next was absolutely breathtaking. Within minutes, I witnessed this magical moment--the fog lifted, the formidable peaks of the Elk range suddenly appeared, the clouds parted and perfect light blanketed the old town--Sundance was born!
