|About the Artist:
Michael hails from a picturesque coastal town in the heart of New England. He grew up with a father who was a serious amateur photographer, (who was a medium format aficionado) and passed on his love of photography to his son. Michael read hundreds of photography magazines & books that were in excess around the house through his teenage years, and soon found himself applying to the Hallmark Institute of Photography after high school in 1982. Following in his father’s footsteps, Michael purchased his first medium format camera at the age of 19, driven by the love of creating.
Michael’s main interest lies in the avant-garde, fashion & portraits. (Not to mention the occasional landscape) Sometimes moody, always stylized, Michael’s photography always comes from a preconceived vision he has rather than documenting existing scenes. “My biggest joy and satisfaction comes from making a photo happen from an imagined (and usually sketched) concept I have." He is also passionate about discovering new talent, using his vision and expertise to achieve stand-apart photographs.
