Introducing his volume of photographs of the beginning of the 21st century, Heinz Stephan Tesarek describes it as a “report on the approach of momentous timesâ€. For seven years the photojournalist observed the context of social developments in twelve European countries, but also in the Asian part of Russia and in the US. In 96 photographs he worked his impressions into the story of the Zwischenzeit (Interim). They are images of decisive years.
Heinz Stephan Tesarek, born 1976 in Vienna, is a freelance photojournalist. He reported from the wars in disintegrating Yugoslavia, on the “war on terror†in Afghanistan and the terror of radical Islamists in the Caucasus and Europe. Between 2001 and 2005 he lived in Moscow and photographed mainly in Russia and in eastern Europe. After returning to Vienna, he worked on feature stories about celebrities and photographed increasingly for international corporations. At the same time, he began work on the book “Zwischenzeit“.
