My photographs are created in the darkroom without a camera. I build my own negatives and create compositions that balance between abstraction and representation. Each negative is only used once making every chromogenic print unique. The sizes range from 50” x 40” to 14” x 11”.
Liz Nielsen is a Brooklyn based photographic artist who works without a camera. Her photos are created with handmade negatives and are exposed in the analog color darkroom. In 2015, Nielsen’s work has been shown at the Material Art Fair in Mexico City, at London Photo, and in New York at Denny gallery, Laurence Miller gallery, and Danziger gallery. In 2015, her work was reviewed in the New Yorker, Collector Daily, and BeautifulDecay.
