Dhan Kumari is the mother of a "Sukumbasi" family (the landless of Nepal). She lives with her five children in a Pokhara slum. Her husband, often away from home, is a porter in the mountains. Sick for several weeks, she nurses her twin daughters for the last time before leaving for the hospital.
