These portraits were taken in Western Ukraine and in Istanbul, Turkey. The first 3 images are of nuns from Istanbul. The first 2 are of a woman who is was so beautiful that it was hard to believe she was a nun. The nun in black was in a vow of silence. The fourth Image is of the legendary photojournalist Ara Güler of Istanbul, and the last photo is of a man who was emotionally recounting the story of him and his family when they hid a very young jewish girl in a barrel when the nazis came to town to take all the jews away. The little girl was brought up with his family in secret until she was 14 years old when she was taken secretly to Israel. After 40 years, the young girl, now a woman, went to visit him and his wife with her 2 children.
