Montreal's underground city is one of the largest in the world. Originally constructed to shield the citizens from the harsh winter conditions, it links metro stations, large malls, hotels and universities. Some of parts have stayed untouched for years, showing signs of neglect and decay. Others have been renovated to meet the human strive for a modern, clean life. Its maze like structure symbolizes the complexity of urban life. This image was taken on Christmas day when the city was empty. It has been treated to enhance the sensation of an empty, bright, modern space.
