Aqua Tower in Chicago is a high rise known for both its architect (a woman, Jeanne Gang) and its wavy design – one that pays tribute to the Great Lakes surrounding Chicago. I, however, am solely reminded of the colloquial verse “Footprints in the Sand” by Mary Stevenson. As a child my parents gave me a plaque displaying this verse that hung on my wall for many years. When I look at Aqua Tower, I see footprints reminding everyone of the one who watches over us, walking with us, as we chart our paths through life.
