Kenyan freelance photographer Georgina Goodwin is one of East Africa's most skilled professionals. Represented by international photographers' collective Metaphor Images she specialises in the documentary and editorial photography of humanitarian, NGO and social issues relating to Africa in particular with regard to cancer, gender, politics, environment and development. Working with the Canon digital system Georgina’s assignments have involved conflict documentary for news-wire agencies, humanitarian and NGO event and project coverage, public health awareness and product promotion, and commercial venues and interiors. Her many publications include local and international newspapers, physical and online magazines, and public exhibitions. Georgina was awarded Kenyan News Photographer of the Year 2013 for her coverage of the Westgate Mall attack in Nairobi in September 2013. Her work on the Kenyan post-election violence in 2007/8 has been widely published and was shortlisted for the Prix-Bayeux War Photographer Award in 2008. She is recognised for her unique access to local subjects and contacts being Kenyan, easy to work with, international ethics and photo-journalistic standards, and has an avid following on the social media sites Instagram, Twitter and Facebook where she shares some of her most inspirational and beautiful works.
