Mr. Ng Chun Wing Alex has been a prominent figure in the photography publication and education field for over 30 years, with his passion for the art beginning in his teenage years. He pursued journalism at university and gained experience as a news reporter and photographer before founding Hong Kong’s leading Photography Magazine in 1987, which remained influential until it ceased publication in 2017.
Throughout the last three decades, Mr. Ng has made significant contributions to photography education. He served as a senior lecturer at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, where he taught photojournalism and nurtured the talents of many aspiring photographers. His passion for writing about photography is reflected in the more than 50 books he has authored.
In 2005, Mr. Ng was appointed as a member of the Photography Professional Education Committee of the China Higher Education Association. His expertise also led him to serve as an art examiner for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for over ten years. Since 2007, he has been a respected jury member for the HKNEWS AWARDS of The Newspaper Society of Hong Kong. Notably, in 2006, Mr. Ng was selected as a judge for the Humanity Photo Awards (HPA) organized by UNESCO, and he has also served as a jury member and advisor for the WYNG MASTER Award for more than a decade.
Currently, Mr. Ng is focused on his personal photography research. He has established a photography channel on YouTube to share his extensive knowledge and experience with a broader audience. In addition, he continues to organize workshops to promote the art of photography, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of the craft.
