Elizabeth Krist was a photography editor at National Geographic magazine for over 20 years, and is now on the board of Women Photograph, advises the Eddie Adams Workshop, and is a contributing editor for Virginia Quarterly Review. Until recently she was on the board of the W. Eugene Smith Fund. She curated the Vision(ary) 2026 summer public art exhibition for the Griffin Museum of Photography, and spoke at the DOK Photojournalism Festival in June. She was a juror for the 2026 Alexia Grants. She also curated National Geographic Society’s Women of Vision exhibition and book, the latest Women Photograph annual, an online auction for Christie’s, and five Photoville installations. Elizabeth is a member of the curators group Oracle and recently edited two 2026 books with Michael Yamashita. She has freelanced for The New Yorker and Magnum Photos, and helped program National Geographic’s Photography Seminar for more than ten years. She teaches for ICP, and collaborates with the New York Portfolio Review, Joop Swart Masterclass, CatchLight, Apple, and the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards. NPPA recognized her with their 2025 Outstanding Leader Award.

Susan Baraz helped found and is Co-Chair of the prestigious Lucie Awards. She gave the awards the name, “Lucie”, as it’s a derivation of Lux, meaning Light, which is what all photography is based on. She is the Head of Judging for the renowned photo competition, “The International Photo Awards” (IPA) and oversees it’s 80 exceptional jurors from around the world.
Susan, along with Hossein Farmani, curated the Climate Change Accord Exhibition for the U.N with 250 images from top photographer’s donating their compelling work. This show has traveled around the globe. Susan is the only American to be invited to curate HIPA, the Prince of Dubai’s photo competition. For 20 years, Susan was the Director of Photography for AtEdge, a high end, invitation only, commercial publication and marketing program.
In 1987 she helped establish and was Chair of “Focus on AIDS”, which became the largest fine art photography auction/benefit in the United States. It raised and gave away millions to AIDS organizations and built the only stand alone, Children’’s AIDS hospital, in world, “Asha Kirana”, located in Mysore India, also a safe house for AIDS street orphans in Tanzania. .
Susan is a photography curator and consultant in both commercial and fine art photography and enjoys helping to present photographers best images to get assignment work, as well as helping outstanding work get seen by gallery owners. She is also an avid collector. Susan has edited fine art photo books, curated exhibitions at the Museum of Tolerance, Holocaust Museum in Wash. DC, “Water” exhibition for PX3, Dupon Gallery, Paris, IPA, 20th Anniversary “Best of Show”, 10th Anniversary “Best of Show”, Robert Berman Gallery, House of Lucie, Thailand, Ukraine at War, Budapest gallery, and galleries world wide.
