DONALD R. WINSLOW - NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER MAGAZINE, NPPA

The career of Donald R. Winslow spans 35 years in photojournalism as a photographer, picture editor, director of photography, graphics editor, writer, and new media producer. 

He's been the editor of News Photographer magazine for the National Press Photographers Association since May 2003. After a career in newspapers, Winslow worked for Reuters as a photojournalist and editor in Washington, DC, as well as for Reuters NewMedia in Reston, VA, and New York City. Before Reuters, Winslow was photography editor for The Palm Beach Post, The Pittsburgh Press, and The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In his home state of Indiana at the beginning of his career he was a photographer for The Republic in Columbus, IN, and The Wabash Plain Dealer in Wabash, IN. 

After working on early applications for digital technology and remote transmitting for Reuters, Winslow moved to San Francisco as the director of photography at CNET Networks Online as CNET developed and launched seven new Web sites, including CNET's News.com, and worked on four weekly technology-oriented television shows.

During the last year Winslow has been a faculty member at Rich Clarkson's Summit Photography Workshops in Jackson Hole, WY, and taught a photography workshop for 34 award-winning Chinese students in Beijing at the China Photographers Association's inaugural Youth Photography Festival. Currently based in Austin, Texas, he is also an adjunct professor at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy, where he teaches a summer course in photojournalism.
