Susan Aurinko - Flatfile Galleries

As a curator, Aurinko has created well over 200 exhibitions, both at FLATFILEgalleries, the gallery she founded and directed for 9 years, and in a variety of other venues. The gallery, which grew out of Aurinko’s own photo experience, began as a photography gallery, and later added artists working in other mediums to its stable. Aurinko studied Photography, Film and Design in various schools, including Layton School of Art and Design, The University of Wisconsin, Madison, ASU, and Columbia College Chicago, where she guest teaches in the photography department and the Portfolio Center throughout the year. She has led workshops for photographers in the US and Canada.

Susan Aurinko, a photographer and curator, has shown her work in France, Italy, and India, as well as in the US. Her 35 image exhibition about India, entitled STILL POINT, INDIA, will open at Kriti Gallery in Varanasi, in the fall of 2009, and will tour India for one and a half to two years, sponsored by HP. Aurinko’s work appears on several book covers, and four of her photographs are included in the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s permanent collection. In addition, many of her images hang in private collections in France, Italy, Monaco, the UK, and across the US.
